Mühlhausen

The imperial town of Mühlhausen was demonstrably involved in Hanseatic trade since 1286. In 1430, Mühlhausen joined the strong Goslaer Bund within the Hanseatic League. The accession was based on a long-standing community of interests with the Saxon Hanseatic towns with regard to trade and protection against arbitrary rule by the sovereign. The last activities in Mühlhausen concerning the Hanseatic League are documented for 1621. In 1990, Mühlhausen joined the Union of Cities THE HANSA.
