The exhibition draws parallels between the medieval past and the present of maritime Europe, highlighting the role of ports as places of encounter, trade and cultural exchange.

The opening ceremony was marked by outstanding institutional and diplomatic support, reflecting the international dimension of the project. The delegation from the city of Laredo was led by the Mayor of Laredo, Miguel González González, and the First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Education and Tourism, Laura Recio Fresnedo.

The Spanish city of Laredo has been a member of the international Union of Cities THE HANSA since 2024. Since joining, the city has been actively planning initiatives such as this photo exhibition. Before it came to Madrid, the exhibition had already been shown in Laredo.
