With its activities, HANSERA continues the original mission of the Hanseatic League: to unite territories and pool strengths – adapting it to the challenges of the 21st century. Where trading goods were exchanged in the past, the association now facilitates the flow of ideas, know-how, and skills. HANSERA supports initiatives based on citizen participation, intercultural dialogue, environmental sustainability, and social innovation, valuing initiatives that bring the Hanseatic spirit of solidarity to life in the present.
On 21-24 May 2026, HANSERA will organize for the first time the international Hanseatic youth event Journées de la Hanse Rochelaise. The event will bring together young people from Hanseatic cities to experience La Rochelle’s maritime heritage, strengthen European cooperation, and foster new connections within the Hanseatic network. It is supported by the City of La Rochelle.
