As part of the 45th International Hanseatic Day in Visby on June 7, the new Presidium of the Union of Cities THE HANSA was elected. The Assembly of Delegates unanimously elected Christof Bartsch (Brilon), Inger Harlevi (Visby), Vineta Pūce (Valmiera) and Peter Snijders (Zwolle) to the Presidium. This completes the representation of the Union of Cities around President Jan Lindenau, who is the mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, for the next three years.

A new election was also on the agenda at the meeting of the HANSA Guild. The new Chairman is the former mayor of Lippstadt, Wolfgang Schwade. Jannic Bobsien from Lüneburg and Christian Woelck from Lemgo were elected Vice-chairmen. The trio has already presented initial ideas for the guild's activities. Thanks are due to Jutta Zachow, the Guild Chairwoman for many years, who did not stand for re-election.
