45th International Hanseatic Day Visby

From June 5 to 8, 2025, the 45th International Hanseatic Day took place in Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland. This was the second time that Visby had hosted the traditional event, 27 years after it was first organised.

The motto of the Hanseatic Day 1998 was “With the Hanseatic League into the future”. Fittingly, the motto chosen for 2025 is “Further together”!

From 5 to 8 June 2025, the Hanseatic Day took place in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, which is surrounded by a 3-kilometre-long medieval city wall. The entire city center became the scene of market stalls, stages and various spontaneous cultural events from the Hanseatic cities.

The HANSEartWORKS exhibition was all about performance art. For the first time, an organ festival with the participation of musicians from the Hanseatic cities took also take place as part of the International Hanseatic Day.

Many thanks to the City of Visby and Region Gotland for organising the event!
