Youth Hansa Day in Oldenzaal

On 13 April, the Oldenzaal Youth Hansa Day took place on the initiative of the Oldenzaal Youth Council. The participants not only learned interesting facts about Oldenzaal and the Twente region, but also had the opportunity to get to know each other personally in the run-up to the International Hanseatic Day in Toruń.

To introduce the more than 20 participants to the sights of the Hanseatic city of Oldenzaal and Twente, various activities were on the programme. Among other things, the young people were given a crash course in the local Twente dialect and climbed the Plechelmus Basilica together.

Julius Lobe, participant from Lübeck, was enthusiastic: "Encounters like this show how the Hansa creates connections and promotes communication, then as now. As delegates, we not only got an impression of the city ,but also of the people, for example during our visit to a secondary school in Oldenzaal. All in all, I think all participants gained interesting and lasting experiences that only strengthened the anticipation for the Hanseatic Day in Toruń."
