The largest cultural cave in Europe is a venue with a special atmosphere for concerts and performances. Or let yourself be carried away into the magical world of dripstones when you visit the "Reckenhöhle". In the lovingly restored "Luisenhütte" adventure museum, unique in Germany, and in the "Museum of Prehistory and Early History" you can immerse yourself in times long past.

But hikers and sports enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in Balve: the "Sauerland Forest Route" takes you to the heights of the Balver Forest and opens up fantastic distant views of the Sauerland. See for yourself! The sporting highlight of the year is the international horse show "Balve-Optimum". Over four days, the equestrian elite gathers in Balve to compete in international competitions as well as the German dressage and show jumping championships at Wocklum Castle. The "Landpartie" also takes place at this beautiful moated castle. In spring and autumn, this top event with around 150 stalls and interesting live acts attracts numerous visitors - far beyond the borders of the region.
