Panorama Hanze is an interactive experience in which projection techniques give you a new perspective on the Hanze. An experience which spectacularly connects past, present and future. All this via a special routing through the Academiehuis to the attic floor and finally on the roof of the Grote Kerk.
Story of the Zwolle Hanseatic League
The Hanseatic League: a powerful network of cities that changed Zwolle forever. Experience the story of the Zwolle Hanze in a way you have never experienced before! In Panorama Hanze, take a trip through time and see Zwolle through the eyes of the inhabitants of the time.
The German Hanze originated in the second half of the 12th century. It was an alliance of merchants from different countries to expand their trade on land, sea and rivers and to protect their voyages from raiders. In 1356, the German Hanseatic League, with Lübeck as its main city, was transformed into an alliance of cities in the countries around the North Sea and Baltic Sea. The Netherlands also counted a number of Hanseatic cities. Along (or near) the river IJssel, they were Arnhem, Doesburg, Zutphen, Deventer, Zwolle, Hattem and Kampen. When exactly Zwolle became a member of the Hanseatic League is not very clear. The Zwolle 18th-century historian Van Hattum mentions an alliance in 1272 in which Zwolle would have been included. Hard evidence does exist for the (re)accession of Zwolle on June 9, 1407. Then the hensestede in Lübeck decided that the people of Zwolle were authorized "des copmans recht to bruken, also se eer gedan hebben."
Panorama Hanze
Panorama Hanze is an interactive experience where projection techniques give you a new perspective on the Hanze. The story of Zwolle from an international context. An experience in which the past, present and future are connected in a spectacular way. All this via a special routing through the Academy House: via the organ to the attic floor and finally on the roof of the Grote Kerk. On the roof of the Grote Kerk, visitors come face to face with the guardian angel Michael, who normally towers high above the historic center of Zwolle.
