Day of the Hansa: Museum Festival at the European Hanse Museum

19. May 2024 | 10:00 AM Lübeck

The European Hanse Museum invites you to its annual Museum Festival. There will be two reasons to celebrate: the Day of the Hansa and the International Museum Day!

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages when the reenactment group "Hansevolk" transform the playground into a medieval trading place. In the inner courtyard, the history experience site "Roter Hahn" sets up camp - and brings not only its knowledge of medieval craft techniques, but also its woolly Jacob's sheep. Food and drinks will also be available.

Accompanying the current special exhibition "Getting from here to there – navigation with a compass or GPS", the museum is also taking up the important topic: With los of  join-in-activities and several public readings you can get to know the world of navigation. The Union of Cities will actively be involved in the activities of the festival.

This year, International Museum Day once again falls on the Day of the Hansa, which is celebrated every third weekend in May. This festive day invites people in the Hanseatic cities to immerse themselves in the Hanseatic history of their city and at the same time experience how they are still part of a European network today.
