During the Assumption week, nine large arches are raised in honour of the Mother of God, a unique event in Germany. On the eve of the big town procession, the Marian arches and the old town are festively illuminated. The summer fair on the Lohwall and Linnenwiese is traditionally organised to coincide with the church festival.
