On September 7, 1373 he moved into Tangermünde Castle with a large entourage, and made it his secondary residence. Charles IV, who is also referred to as a merchant under the emperors, increased his wealth primarily through his business activities. Through the Hanseatic city of Tangermünde. He hoped for profitable relationships with the powerful Hanseatic League.
This year the festival is all about a big anniversary, because exactly 650 years ago, Emperor Charles IV first entered his castle in Tangermünde.
A colorful program for young and old awaits you in the old town and on the banks of the Elbe. Small and large music groups from the region present themselves on the stages.
Also this year there will be medieval market on the castle hill. The following attractions will adorn this medieval market: a historic hand-cranked Ferris wheel, medieval games e.g. B. Dragon hunt, egg cracker and much more.
A special highlight this year will be the entry of Emperor Charles IV through the Neustadt Gate with his entourage. So many people will be cheering him on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. along Langen Straße up to the Burgberg. On the castle hill, the emperor will address his eagerly awaited speech to the people.
A firework display brings the Saturday evening to a close. On Sunday there will also be a varied program in the old town and on the Bleichenberg festival grounds.
