Hamelin

The city history goes back to the 8th century. The Hameln Münster recently celebrated its 1200th anniversary. International renown was gained through the exodus of the Hameln children, that later formed the Pied Piper tale. From 1426 to 1572, Hameln was a member of the Hanseatic League. That economic success during the 16th century brought about a competition in creating the beautiful Weser-Renaissance buildings, against the aristocrats of the environs. Many of these impressive half-timber and sandstone constructions can be admired to this day and frame the flair of the old town.
