Sail to the Hanseatic Days 2010 in Pärnu

Dear members of the Youth Hansa,

we are happy that we will all together take part in the 30th Hansa Day in Pärnu in 2010. As an ambassador of Mecklenburg-West Pommerania the sail training vessel “GREIF” travels on the entire Baltic Sea and will take residents of the Hanseatic cities to Pärnu. Sail with us to Pärnu or accompany us on the way back to Greifswald.

28 sailors can come along on each sail: you are accommodated in sixteen pullman berths (solid bunks), four two-berth-cabins and four hammocks. Sailing experience is not necessary; curiosity, tolerance, sense of responsibility and the readiness to integrate in a team are much more important. We offer an unusual experience: sailing on a square-rigged ship. During the sail you will be part of the team. Together with the crew you will sail the ship to Pärnu and with the second crew back to Greifswald. While aboard, you will get familiar with seamanship. Every sailor will take on different duties (helmsman, lookout, anchor watch and galley duty). During the sailing manoeuvre all hands will be on deck; together we will make a fast headway.
