March, 12th
At the assembly of delegates, Osnabrück applies for the alignment of the 26th International Hansa Convention and is accepted

2003

August, 26th
The Hansa-Consortium meets for the first time, the intense phase of planning starts

2004

The Hansa - Consortium convenes for six meetings
The planned big Hansa-exposition is cancelled for financial reasons by a decision of the city council, instead a publication will be released

2005               

June, 28th      
The motto, logo and corporate design are developed and presented: “Europe in Osnabrück”

July, 3rd         
The Hansa-flag is delivered to the Lord Mayor of Osnabrück, Mr. Fip during the Hansa Convention in Tartu

Nov., 17th     
“Hansa – Trading for a municipal world”, lecture by Prof. Dirk Manzke in order to invite local artists and cultural groups to participate at the Hansa Convention

Nov., 25.-27th
Commission-meeting in snowy Osnabrück: 50 deputies from 23 cities attended; the commission is satisfied with the planning for 2006.

2006

Jan., 18th        
The “Hansa-Countdown” starts: On an illuminated tablet the remaining days to the opening of the Hansa Convention will be counted backwards. The tablet will be standing at different places in the city centre.

March, 3th      
To get into the mood for the Hansa Convention, a serial of readings of already published Hansa-thrillers by the Hamburg Publishing company “Die Hanse” will start by the Motto “Hansa, merchants, cutthroats”. It starts with a reading of the Hansa-thriller “Safrantod” by Silke Urbanski. All Hansa-thrillers are based on historical facts. Their charm consists on a successful mixture of fiction and reality (Presenter: Lagerhalle).

March, 16th    
The town crier Günter Kropp from Deventer (Netherlands) will stop by in Osnabrück. He will compose a song especially for the Hansa Convention and uses his trip to gather historical facts about the city of Osnabrück. He will present his composition accompanied by the Hansa-singers at the Hansa Convention.      

March,16th     
The Hansa-thriller “Die leinenweiße Braut” is presented by its author Carlo Feber. This novel is situated in mediaeval Osnabrück – the author got inspired for the plot by visiting the town (Initiator: Lagerhalle).

April, 22nd     
A cog hits the road: A cog build especially for the Hansa Convention with a copy of the Town Hall of Osnabrück on its top was presented for the first time. The cog will go on its journey through the region around Osnabrück to promote the Hansa Convention. The 6 x 2 m ship will be used as a plaything on a children’s playground after the Hansa Convention (Organisation: OMT).

May, 13th       
“Over the lands and the seas”: the Osnabrück based music-theatre “Lupe” developed and presented a theatre play that will be touring the schools of Osnabrück and its regions. The play delivers many facts about the life during the Hanseatic League by the story of the two friends Cornelius and Paul.

May, 18th       
The exhibition “Historical rooms – Osnabrück and the Hanseatic League” opens at the University Library. This exposition was initialised and organised by the Institute of Cultural History of the Early Modern Period of the University of Osnabrück, the University Library and the Osnabrück public record office. Numerous impressive exponats (including historical prints) demonstrate  the historiography of Osnabrück as a member of the Hanseatic League.

June, 5-8th      
The “Hanseatic-lower Saxon Pentecost-congress” holds its annual meeting in the city of Osnabrück at the Adult Education Centre (VHS).
