Marketing and Media work

Marketing

The marketing of the 26th International Hansa Convention 2006 was developed in far pre-position of this event by a widely developed media-concept. The marketing was accompanied by numerous announcements and a broad media-concept (press, advertisements, stoppers...) at various media in the town of Osnabrück and its region.

Oct. 2005 Hansa-Countdown

The Hansa-Countdown starts: On an illuminated tablet the remaining days to the opening of the Hansa Convention will be counted backwards. The tablet is presented at different places in the city centre. The tablet is provided with the theme poster of the Hansa Convention and labelled with the inscription “From today there will be only xxx days to the Hansa Convention from June 15th – 18th in Osnabrück”.

March 2006 Media partners/Sponsoring

Various media partners/sponsors (NordLB, NOZ, Sparkasse, Stadtblatt) advertised the Hansa Convention in print, trailers and features. The coverage of the print media is available at the Department of Press of the city of Osnabrück.

May 2006 Hansa-cog-model

The central motive of the Hansa poster – a cog – was rebuilt in a smaller scale (2x6 m). This model was used for an advertisement “road tour” through the greater Osnabrück and several cities in Lower Saxony and Westfalia of several days’ duration. The cog was presented during the Hansa Convention at the Hansa Market.

After the Hansa Convention the cog underwent reconstruction and is now used as a plaything at Adolf-Reichwein-Platz in the centre of the city. Since September the cog has been placed there at a newly beachlike designed surrounding and is since then a popular venue for children and their parents.

Media work: Press, Broadcasting and Television

Print media

The press has been covering contents and ambitions of the 26th Hansa Convention in the forefront of the event.
Since the end of may the coverage of the print media has been intensified. Since the beginning of June 2006 to the date of the Hansa Convention, the following print medias delivered coverage on several topics:

  • Hansa Convention in general
  • Hansecyclists of Lübe
  • Hansa-letters (a series released by Osnabrück’s daily newspaper NOZ
  • “wave-sinfonie”
  • Night of culture
  • Children’s publication
  • Series about the historical Hansaeatic League (Sundays: ON)
  • Children’s programme
  • Accompanying musical programme (organ-concerts, “wave-sinfonie”).

Altogether approximately 120 articles were published in regional, supraregional and international print medias that focussed on the Hansa Convention in general or pointed out some special aspects.

Broadcasting and television

  • A live-broadcasted foyer-talk took place at the location of the local broadcasting radio (NDR) in the verge of the Hansa Convention
  • The Hansa-representative, Mayor Mrs. Jabs-Kiesler and further representatives of the city of Osnabrück reported in the broadcasting-programme “Plattenkiste” about the ongoing of the Hansa Convention at the NDR in Hannover
  • The NDR reported about the city-forum “Future of the cities”
  • The TV station Nord 3 reported on a daily basis about the highlights of the Hansa Convention. On the last day, this TV station broadcasted an hour long live from the Hansa Convention.

During the Hansa Convention approximately 50 journalists and photographers of the medias print, broadcasting and television were accredited.
