Welcome!
To the HANSE-Web!
Seeing that the "old" Hanseatic League, or HANSE, can look back on a
tradition of many centuries, I am delighted to present to you the "new"
HANSE in today's media, the Internet.
The "new" HANSE, which was revived in Zwolle in 1980, has set itself the task of keeping alive the spirit of the Hanseatic League as a community of life and culture of the towns and cities. It promotes a sense of civic responsibility that has proved itself over the centuries. It fosters identification of citizens with their town and its objectives, taking up this Hanseatic heritage and breathing new life into it. It focuses on the idea of reconciliation going beyond borders, and the ideal of a lasting order of peace in Europe.
I invite you most cordially use this website to get information on the creation, the objectives and the projects of the HANSE.

Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck
