Lippstadt combines tradition along with progress. As it is the oldest town in Westphalia (1185) and former member of the Hanse Lippstadt looks back on its diversified past of over 800 years. At persent we can see a functioning infrastructure based upon solid groundwork which developed over time, an example of healthy urban development. The historical old town centre is a successful symbiosis with the vibrant life of a modern town which lends itself to extensive shopping sprees. In 2007 the hanseatic days will be in Lippstadt.

Lippstadt has over 70 000 inhabitants and as such has the task of an administrative and economic centre for the region. At the same time first-rate companies acting as component suppliers for the automotive industry have chosen Lippstadt as its location. The economic strength of Lippstadt is based upon prudent company philosophy of innovative and creative firms which come in all different sizes. The town is easily accessible by car as it is situated between the motorways A2 and A44 and is also linked to international air traffic due to the regional airport Paderborn/Lippstadt.

An extensive educational system, the vicinity to the universities of Paderborn, Bielefeld and Dortmund as well as to the International Business School and to the Centre for University Studies in Hagen vouch for a high level of education. The various possibilities of continuation training, leisure time as well as the diversified cultural events make Lippstadt a pleasent place to live.

The places of interest, such as the big Marienkirche, the ruin of the Collegiate Church built in the 12th century, the historical Town Hall and castles in some parts of town are evidence of the culture and architechture of former times. The suburb Bad Waldliesborn offers various rehabilitation facilities and a thermal swimming pool for effective post-operative treatmentr.
