Die Gemeinde Goleniów ist mit 444 km2 Fläche die fünftgrößte Gemeinde in der Westpommern Wojewodschaft. Die Gemeinde zählt 32 000 Einwohner. Die Stadt Goleniów liegt 34 km nördlich von Stettin und 65 km südlich von Swinemünde, 50 km von dem Grenzübergang nach Deutschland in Pomellen oder Linken. Im Westen grenzt die Gemeinde an den D¹bskie-See und an den Fluß Oder. Die Gemeinde und die Stadt werden durch den Fluß Ina durchquert. Fast 50% der Bodenfläche nehmen Wälder ein. Goleniów liegt an zwei wichtigen Straßen: an der Schnellstraße Nr. 3 (E-65), die einerseits nach Stettin und Berlin und andererseits nach Swinemünde und zu den Fähren in die skandinavischen Länder führt; und an der Schnellstraße Nr. 6 (E-28), die der polnischen Küste entlang nach Danzig hin und weiter in die anderen baltischen Länder führt. Ein dichtes Straßennetz verbindet Goleniów mit anderen Städten in der Wojewodschaft zachodniopomorskie und in ganz Polen. Die Bahnlinie von Stettin nach Swinemünde ermöglicht die Bahnverbindung mit allen Städten in Polen. 5 km von der Stadt entfernt liegt der internationale Flughafen (Szczecin-Goleniów). Nachdem er in den letzten Jahren modernisiert und umgebaut worden ist, gehört er jetzt zu den modernsten Flughäfen in Polen. Selbst die größten Flugzeuge können hier nach den neuesten Sicherheitsstandarten empfangen werden.

GOLENIÓW- CULTURE FIRST The Community Center of Goleniów takes care of organizing and functioning of cultural life in our town. There are many different artistic groups and projects which gather children, teenagers and adults. Apart from Community Center of Goleniów, Music School, Public Library, primary, junior, high schools and all kinds of cultural groups play an important role in promoting the culture by making it available to numberous public. Cultural events, organized by the community center, are appreciated not only by our residents but also by international guests. Folklore Meetings “By the Ina River” – an annual international happening, which attracts folklore groups and people interested in folklore from entire Europe – are one of the most important and prestigious events. In our town, under the patronage of the Community Center, there exists The Group of Songs and Dances of Goleniów Soil “INA”, which is worldwide known group admired by most of European an Asiatic counties. The group has been cooperating with German folklore group “IHNA” from Erlangen for many years. People visiting Goleniów have a chance to participate in many sports and cultural events, moreover, whoever comes to our town, situated by the Ina river, will find places where it is possible to have a good rest. Goleniów Forests take up to 50 percent of our community, and that’s why it is a paradise for mushrooms’ pickers in autumn and a relaxing place for everyone throughout the entire year. The Ina, flowing through Goleniów, is excellent for canoeing. All the places by the Lake D¹bie are wonderful areas for anglers and summer holidays, especially Lubczyna which has proper touristic infrastructure - Boat-House and Beach Center GMDS (2 ¯eglarska , 72-205 Lubczyna, tel. 091 4191612)

WE HAVE OUR PLACE IN EUROPE Goleniów Commune has been engaged in international cooperation for many years now. This cooperation is based on the network of partner towns and connections with various institutions operating in our commune and their equivalents in Europe. Partner towns of Goleniów are: Greifswald and Bergen auf Ruegen in Germany, Opmeer in Holland and Svedala in Sweden. Our town may also be proud with our active participation in Intentional Association of Communes in West-Pomeranian Euro Region “Pomerania”. Since 2001 we have been a member of the Association of Hanzeatic Towns. The best proof that our cooperation is factual and constructive is the fact that our commune was awarded by The Council of Europe in Strasburg by giving us The Certificate of Europe in 2001 and The Flag of Europe in 2003.

BUSINESSMEN ARE VERY WILLING TO INVEST HERE Goleniów Commune is one of the fastest developing communes in our province and country. A great number of economic ventures (3200), their variety, diversity of production and services guarantee economic stability and employment. Commune, which aims at keeping the dynamics of economy increase, has prepared 300 hectares of grounds for industrial activities by creating The Goleniów Industrial Park. Businessmen who invest in our commune for the first time are offered 100 percent real estate tax break for grounds, buildings and constructions for a year, and 50 percent during the second year. These reliefs are not imposed by any other conditions and they refer to all regardless of the sum of money which is invested and the number of employed inhabitants.
