The well-balanced concept of economic activities and recreation makes it to a growing economic location which is proved by the installation of the biggest and most modern Austrian chipboard plant in Europe. The secret “cultural capital” of Sauerland region offers high quality theatre performances, all kind of concerts, exhibitions, cabarets, Open Airs as well as different public festivals. The university of Paderborn is also situated nearby, The youth hostel of Brilon is a place for environmental studies with focus on wood education.
