Online-Card - Bad Iburg

Due to its lovely and favourable site on the southern slope of the Teutoburger Forest, Bad Iburg, being at the same time in the middle of the three towns - Münster, Osnabrück and Bielefeld - provides a high standard of leisure facilities and life quality. The castle which nowadays is a historical landmark has been the residence of the Prince Bischops of Osnabrück for more than 600 years. The historical importance, the well-wooded surroundings and modern therapy facilities make the Kneipp-spa an attractive destination for a day-trip as well as for an active healthy holiday.
Since 1967, the town of Bad Iburg has earned the right to be called „Kneipp-spa“. The methods and teachings of the priest Sebastian Kneipp (1821 - 1897) are in the foreground. They concentrate on five different fields: water applications, fitness, medical and botany science, health nourishment and well-balanced lifestyle. Besides tourism, Bad Iburg has become an interesting economic area for trade, business and service industry. Due to its different school types, training centers and an inferior court, the town has become a center for the southern part of the Osnabrück district. In the 16th century, Bad Iburg belonged to the Westfalian quarter of the Hanse League. Being one of six co-towns of Osnabrück, Bad Iburg was able to use hanseatic rights and civil liberty. In 1985 Bad Iburg joined the Westphalian Hanseatic League.
