On the trace of the hanse through the towns Stendal and Tangermünde. Our hanseatic history went back into the 13. century. Experience an unforgetable trip into the history of the Altmark.
The town Stendal developed itself as the richest and most beautiful town of the Mark during the hanseatic time. Today you can admire the splending churches, representative city towers and as a special sign of Germany’s shine in the past the third largest colossal statue of Roland at a walk through the town.
Tangermünde is one of the towns that keep it's picture of the middle ages until now. On a high area above the countryside at the mouth of the river Tanger into the river Elbe are the castle of the middle ages and the town that was build for the protection of the castle about 800 years ago.
