6th International Day of the Hanse on 16th May 2009
Invitation for the Hanseatic cities
Dear Hanseatic friends,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Hanseatic member cities do have an important task to promote and increase awareness about the Hanseatic heritage. As a tool in this work the International Day of the Hansa was invented. And started. On the third Saturday of May every Hanseatic city is encouraged to celebrate this day as a joint event. Exhibitions, city tours and activities related to trade make the Hanseatic spirit come alive. In this way the citizens get aware of the own Hanseatic heritage and simultaneously they see that they are part of an active network of cities.
Also next year, on the 16th of May 2009, the International Day of the Hansa will be celebrated. I am convinced that this day will be a permanent event for the marketing of each member city and our common goal should be to increase the number of participating cities.
To announce your interest to participate in the celebrations of the 6th International Day of the Hansa, I kindly ask you to send in your application to the Hansa Office in Lübeck as soon as possible and latest on the 31st of January 2009.
